Trevor Zegras has made room for two Philadelphia Flyers teammates at home, giving Denver Barkey and Porter Martone a place to settle into NHL life, NHL.com reported.

Barkey moved into Zegras's townhouse last season after staying in a hotel near the practice rink. He is living there again this season. Martone joined the household during the summer after becoming a frequent visitor.

Barkey said the arrangement has helped him adjust to the demands of professional hockey. Martone described Zegras as a mentor who encourages him to trust his instincts on the ice.

The support reflects a larger role the Flyers want Zegras to fill. When Philadelphia signed him to a four-year, $36.5 million contract in July, general manager Daniel Brière said he expected Zegras to take on more leadership responsibility, as Broad Street Hockey reported at the time.

Zegras told NHL.com that he can relate to the questions younger players bring him. He credited former Anaheim teammate Josh Manson with offering similar guidance when he was starting out in the league.
