Tuch opens Capitals career with two goals in 5-2 win over Hurricanes

Alex Tuch began his Washington Capitals career with two first-period goals in a 5-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday in Raleigh. Washington led 3-0 at the first intermission and never surrendered the lead.
Tuch beat Brandon Bussi at 6:33 to put the Capitals ahead, with Alex Ovechkin earning an assist. Cole Hutson doubled the advantage at 11:33 before Tuch struck again at 14:23, this time on a backhand shot.
A power-play goal from Jakob Chychrun pushed Washington's lead to 4-0 early in the second period. Carolina's Sebastian Aho converted on the power play at 16:50, but Ryan Leonard answered eight seconds later to leave the Capitals ahead 5-1 through 40 minutes.
Logan Stankoven supplied the Hurricanes' second goal at 10:50 of the third. Washington goaltender Logan Thompson turned aside 31 of Carolina's 33 shots; Bussi finished with 22 saves on 27 shots.
