Tarasov to start in Seattle as Red Wings begin four-game trip
J.T. Compher will travel with Detroit, while Marco Kasper and Mason Appleton stay behind.
Daniil Tarasov will start for the Detroit Red Wings against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday, Oct. 20, coach Todd McLellan said after Monday’s practice. The game opens Detroit’s first extended road trip of the season.
Marco Kasper, who has an upper-body injury, and Mason Appleton, whose injury is undisclosed, will not accompany the team. J.T. Compher will travel with the team.
Compher has not played since Oct. 4. He has been skating with the group since last week and rotated with Sheldon Dries on Monday’s fourth line alongside Nate Danielson and Keegan Kolesar.
Detroit is 3-3-2 after a 4-3 shootout win over San Jose and has earned points in four consecutive games. The Red Wings played seven of their first eight games at home; after Seattle, they visit Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.
McLellan said the remaining goaltending assignments would be decided during the trip, taking travel and fatigue into account.
