Steven Stamkos moved into 17th place on the NHL's all-time goals list on Tuesday, Oct. 6, scoring twice for the Nashville Predators against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.

His power-play goal at 7:13 of the first period was the 626th of his career. It broke a tie with Joe Sakic and Jarome Iginla, who each finished their careers with 625.

Stamkos scored again at 13:30 of the second period for No. 627. That leaves him 13 goals behind Dave Andreychuk, who is 16th with 640.

Filip Forsberg also reached 400 career assists during the game and finished the night with 401 after setting up both Nils Hoglander goals. Ryan O'Reilly reached 900 career points with an assist on Stamkos's second goal.

Speaking after Wednesday's practice, O'Reilly praised Stamkos's work, intelligence and ability to find scoring positions. He said it was remarkable to see his linemate move past players they had admired growing up, according to the Predators' official report.

Toronto came back from 3-0 down to win 5-4 in overtime.

Stamkos has three goals through Nashville's first three games: one against the Dallas Stars on Oct. 3 and two in Toronto on Oct. 6.
