Sirens introduce Emma Peschel at Empire State Building
New York's first-round pick met the media nearly a month after the 2026 PWHL Draft.
The New York Sirens welcomed first-round pick Emma Peschel to Manhattan on Tuesday, hosting her first in-market appearance at the Empire State Building.
Peschel, selected seventh overall on June 17, spoke with media on the 86th floor observation deck alongside general manager Pascal Daoust and head coach Greg Fargo. The 22-year-old defender from Edina, Minnesota, spent four years at Ohio State, where she posted career highs of 10 goals and 39 points as a senior in 2025-26, according to oursportscentral.com. She helped the Buckeyes win the 2024 national championship.
Peschel was the fourth defender taken in the draft, behind Caroline Harvey, Laila Edwards, and Nelli Laitinen. Daoust told reporters she will have an opportunity to compete for a top-four role out of training camp, per sportsnaut.com.
"I've always liked to be around that environment," Peschel said, according to amedpost.com. "Being in the biggest city in the world, in your 20s, I don't think there's much better."
She joins three former Ohio State teammates already on the Sirens roster: Paetyn Levis, Lauren Bernard, and Clair DeGeorge. Peschel played one season with Levis and two with Bernard at Ohio State.
The introduction comes during an expansion offseason for the PWHL, which grew from six teams to 12. "I think it's one of the best times to join in the history of the League," Peschel said, per sportsnaut.com.
