Sharks' Askarov robs Batherson with diving glove save in Ottawa

Yaroslav Askarov kept Drake Batherson from scoring with a diving catch during the San Jose Sharks’ visit to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Ottawa’s power play moved the puck from the point to the right circle, drawing Askarov across his crease. A return pass found Batherson with much of the goal uncovered, but the Sharks goalie reversed direction and stretched out to his right to intercept the shot with his glove.

NHL.com’s account noted that Askarov had to reach through traffic to make the stop. He remained down briefly afterward, waiting for play to be stopped.
