Senators Open Camp Without Artem Zub and Warren Foegele
Travis Green says both injured players are skating and should rejoin the group within two weeks.
The Ottawa Senators will start training camp without defenceman Artem Zub and forward Warren Foegele.
Head coach Travis Green said Wednesday that neither player will skate with the main group when the Senators hit the ice Thursday. Both are recovering from injuries and have been skating on their own.
"They're skating. I always tell you guys that when they're skating, they're close," Green told reporters. "I would expect both of them to be with the team in the next week to two weeks."
Zub is working back from the lower-body injury he suffered in Ottawa's first-round playoff series against Carolina. He played 7:44 in Game 1 before missing the rest of the series. The 30-year-old set career highs during the regular season with five goals and 30 points in 81 games.
Foegele joined Ottawa ahead of the trade deadline and recorded six goals and eight points in 21 regular-season games with the Senators. He did not record a point in the playoffs.
Green expects both players to return to practice before the regular season begins.
