The Ottawa Senators head to San Jose on Saturday looking to turn their comeback in Los Angeles into a more consistent performance. Ottawa erased a 5-1 deficit Thursday before losing 6-5 in overtime to the Kings.

Speaking Friday, Shane Pinto said the Senators needed to establish their forecheck earlier and sustain it throughout the game. He pointed to getting pucks behind the defence and recovering possession as the basis of their third-period response.

Ottawa scored four times in 11 minutes despite finishing the game with only nine forwards available. The rally earned the Senators a point, though they remain without a win on this Pacific Division trip.

San Jose won the teams’ previous meeting 6-2, including two empty-net goals. Ottawa had a 43-28 advantage in shots in that game. After Saturday’s rematch, the Senators visit Anaheim on Sunday.
