The Buffalo Sabres recalled defenceman Dennis Gilbert from the Rochester Americans on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and placed Matt Grzelcyk on injured reserve, the club announced.

Gilbert could play against the Canadiens in Montreal with Rasmus Dahlin unavailable because of an upper-body injury. Buffalo has not confirmed Gilbert’s place in the lineup.

Grzelcyk has not played since Buffalo’s Oct. 1 season opener in Columbus. Gilbert fills the roster spot opened by his move to injured reserve.

Dahlin left Monday’s game against Florida in the second period. The Sabres consider their captain day to day, and he did not travel to Montreal.
