Red Wings Open Camp With 49 Players in Detroit

The Red Wings released their 2026 training camp roster and schedule on Wednesday, with 49 players set to begin on-ice work Thursday at the BELFOR Training Center inside Little Caesars Arena.
The group breaks down as 28 forwards, 16 defensemen and five goaltenders, all of them in Detroit for daily practices and scrimmages.
The preseason is a four-game slate and it starts on the road. Detroit visits the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m., then the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. The home half follows: the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m., and a rematch with Columbus on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
Detroit's first preseason game is Monday in Columbus.
