PWHL San Jose names 29 players to inaugural training camp roster

Troy Ryan's expansion club will open camp Nov. 18 at Sharks Ice with 17 forwards, nine defenders and three goaltenders.

PWHL San Jose has named 29 players to its first training camp roster, with the group set to hit the ice at Sharks Ice when camps open on Wednesday, Nov. 18. That date follows the 2026 IIHF Women's World Championship, which runs in Denmark from Nov. 6 to 16.

The roster has 17 forwards, nine defenders and three goaltenders. Eighteen of the players are already signed for 2026-27, and 15 were on PWHL rosters last season.

The list includes 2026 draft picks Laila Edwards, Tia Chan, Sloane Matthews, Lily Shannon and Mckenna Van Gelder, all signed. Goaltender Corinne Schroeder comes from the Seattle Torrent, and Abbey Levy and defender Hadley Hartmetz from the Boston Fleet. Several other players are listed as coming from the New York Sirens, the Toronto Sceptres and other PWHL clubs.

"We're incredibly excited to get this group together and officially get to work," said Troy Ryan, San Jose's general manager and head coach. "Training camp gives our staff the opportunity to see the compete level, skill and personality of our players firsthand, while beginning to build the identity of this team."

San Jose will play two preseason scrimmages against the Seattle Torrent at Tech CU Arena: Sunday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. PT and Monday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. PT.

The regular season opens at home on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. PT against the Minnesota Frost at SAP Center. Single-game tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster on Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. PT.
