PWHL Hamilton signs second-round pick Jade Iginla to one-year deal

The former Brown captain is the second member of Hamilton's inaugural draft class to sign, a day after first-rounder Nelli Laitinen.

Hamilton signed forward Jade Iginla to a one-year Standard Player Agreement on Oct. 6 for its inaugural 2026-27 PWHL season. The club selected her 18th overall in the second round of the June 17 draft.

Iginla arrives after four seasons at Brown University, where she served as captain and recorded 99 points in 123 games. In her final season, she had 33 points in 32 games and earned Third Team All-ECAC honours.

General manager Meghan Duggan said Iginla brings scoring ability and leadership to Hamilton’s forward group. Iginla said she was eager to play for the city’s fans and help build the new team.

She is the second player from Hamilton’s inaugural draft class to sign, after Nelli Laitinen agreed to a three-year contract announced Monday. Hamilton now has 16 players under contract, including nine forwards.
