David Pastrnak moved ahead of Patrice Bergeron on the Boston Bruins’ career goals list Saturday. His breakaway goal in the first period against the Chicago Blackhawks was his 428th, breaking a tie with Bergeron for third place.

NHL.com reported that Pastrnak reached the mark in his 848th regular-season appearance. The Bruins captain now trails Phil Esposito’s 459 goals and Johnny Bucyk’s franchise record of 545. Those totals leave Pastrnak 31 goals behind Esposito and 117 behind Bucyk.

Both former Bruins told NHL.com they expect Pastrnak to keep climbing. Esposito praised his movement away from the puck and quick release, while Bucyk said he would welcome seeing Pastrnak eventually take the record.

Pastrnak has played his entire NHL career for Boston, which selected him with the 25th pick in the 2014 draft. His first two NHL goals came against Philadelphia on Jan. 10, 2015.
