Panthers Set Fifth Annual Pink in the Rink Night for Oct. 17
Florida will honour those who have battled breast and cervical cancer when it hosts the Seattle Kraken on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Amerant Bank Arena.
The Florida Panthers will hold their fifth annual Pink in the Rink night on Saturday, Oct. 17, when they host the Seattle Kraken at 6 p.m. ET at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise. The game is presented with Baptist Health Cancer Care and Promise Fund.
The night honours people who have battled breast and cervical cancer, along with the medical professionals who treat the diseases and work toward a cure.
President of hockey operations and general manager Bill Zito said events that raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancer have personal meaning to him. He said he was proud the Panthers were holding the celebration for a fifth year.
Every fan in attendance will receive a pink folding hand fan courtesy of Baptist Health Cancer Care and Promise Fund. Specialty Pink in the Rink jerseys will be auctioned at FlaPanthers.givesmart.com, with proceeds going to the Florida Panthers Foundation and Promise Fund.
Baptist Health Cancer Care will bring its MammoVan to the Publix Plaza as part of the pre-game programming, where fans can learn about mammography from the organization's staff.
The Panthers will recognize U.S. Army veteran and breast cancer survivor Staci Cavalcante through their Heroes Among Us program. Cavalcante works as a game day fundraising representative for the Florida Panthers Foundation. For the fifth straight year, the team will also hold a pre-game rose moment on the ice honouring those fighting breast and cervical cancer and survivors.
Earlier that morning, the American Cancer Society will host its Making Strides of Broward County walk at Amerant Bank Arena for a fourth consecutive year. A pink-themed Breast Cancer Awareness merchandise collection, including hats, shirts and bracelets, is available through Pantherland and FLATeamShop.com throughout October and beyond.
