The Edmonton Oilers take a 6-0-0 road record into Sunday’s visit to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, the second game of a weekend back-to-back.

Edmonton improved to 10-2-2 by beating the Islanders 4-0 on Saturday. Tristan Jarry made 18 saves for a second consecutive shutout, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored two goals.

Isaac Howard’s availability is uncertain after he left Saturday’s game following a knee-on-knee collision with Emil Heineman. Oilers coach Mike Babcock described the initial outlook as favourable, but said the team would assess how Howard recovered on Sunday.

The Oilers have held opponents to a combined 42 shots during their two shutouts. Babcock said improving the team’s defensive play remains an early-season priority.
