Oilers Add Misha Donskov as Coaching Consultant

Hockey Canada's vice-president of hockey operations will spend select days each month with Edmonton while keeping his national team job.

The Edmonton Oilers have added Misha Donskov as a coaching consultant, the club said Thursday.

Donskov stays on as Hockey Canada's vice-president of hockey operations and men's national team coach, the job he took on June 27, 2025. The Oilers said he will keep that role and spend select days with the team at home each month.

Donskov was the Vegas Golden Knights' director of hockey operations before their first season in 2017-18, and he was an assistant coach when Vegas won the Stanley Cup in 2023. After that, he was an assistant with the Dallas Stars for two seasons.

Internationally, he was part of Canada's coaching staff for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off title and the Olympic silver medal at Milan Cortina in 2026, and he helped Canada to bronze at the 2026 world junior championship as an associate coach. Earlier, he worked at several tournaments for Canada, mostly as a video coach.

He is slated to coach Canada at both next year's men's world championship and the world junior championship.
