A Cars tribute accompanied Roger McQueen’s first NHL appearance on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The Anaheim Ducks centre took the ice in No. 95, the number he shares with Lightning McQueen.

As the centre took his solo rookie lap without a helmet, the arena played Sheryl Crow’s “Real Gone” from the Cars soundtrack, ESPN reported.

McQueen finished with one shot on goal and no points in 11:26 of ice time as Anaheim lost 4-2 to the Calgary Flames at Honda Center.

The Ducks selected McQueen 10th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft. He chose No. 95 in homage to Lightning McQueen, and travelled by helicopter to Disneyland after the draft to meet the character. Tuesday’s warmup brought that connection onto NHL ice.
