Markstrom returns from injury to start for Panthers against Detroit
Florida’s goaltender is set for his first appearance since Oct. 17 as the Panthers seek a fourth consecutive win.
Jacob Markstrom will start for the Florida Panthers against Detroit on Monday, returning from the upper-body injury he sustained in practice on Oct. 19, NHL.com reported. The home game begins at 7 p.m. ET.
Markstrom last played on Oct. 17, when Florida beat Seattle 8-3. The Panthers had initially expected him to miss 10 to 14 days. His return follows five games out of the lineup, according to RotoWire.
The goaltender enters the matchup with three wins, one regulation loss and one overtime loss in six appearances. He has a 2.21 goals-against average, a .897 save percentage and one shutout.
Florida brings an 8-4-2 record into the game and is seeking its fourth consecutive victory, with the same streak at home. Detroit is 6-5-3 after surrendering three unanswered goals in the third period of Saturday’s 5-4 loss to St. Louis.
