Nick Blankenburg is week to week with an upper-body injury, NHL.com reported Friday. The Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman left Thursday’s game against the New York Rangers after a hit from Will Cuylle.

Toronto is also missing defenceman Chris Tanev, who has an upper-body injury, and centre John Tavares, who has a lower-body injury. Both are week to week, and Tavares will stay behind when the club begins its four-game trip in Edmonton on Saturday.

The Maple Leafs recalled Cole McWard and Dakota Mermis from the AHL’s Toronto Marlies on Friday.
