Maple Leafs unsure of Marshall Rifai’s availability against Rangers
Rifai left Thursday’s morning skate early; Nick Blankenburg would replace him if he cannot play.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are waiting to learn whether defenceman Marshall Rifai can play against the New York Rangers on Thursday, Oct. 22, after he left the morning skate early.
Coach Jim Hiller said Rifai was "dealing with something" and his availability remained unclear, according to NHL.com's projected-lineup report. Nick Blankenburg would enter the lineup if Rifai cannot play.
New York defenceman Sean Durzi is expected to play after leaving Monday's 5-2 win over Anaheim following a blocked shot near his wrist. The teams meet at 7 p.m. ET.
