Kings and Galaxy to unveil renovated roller rink in Torrance
A Wednesday ceremony at Charles H. Wilson Park will launch a five-year sponsorship by the two clubs, with free parking and activities for visitors.
The LA Kings and LA Galaxy are beginning a five-year sponsorship of the roller rink at Charles H. Wilson Park in Torrance. The clubs and the city will mark the renovation with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Oct. 21, the Kings announced.
A scoreboard and updated signs are among the improvements, which are intended to support more hockey programmes in Torrance and the surrounding South Los Angeles area. Both clubs belong to AEG.
The ceremony is scheduled for 2:45 to approximately 3 p.m. Patrick O'Neal of "LA Kings Live" will host, with Kings alumnus and television analyst Jim Fox, Galaxy president and chief operating officer Tom Braun, and Torrance Mayor Sharon Kalani scheduled to speak.
From 3 to 4 p.m., club staff will run youth clinics in ball hockey and soccer with the YMCA. Visitors can also try a target-practice activity, explore the Kings' Gaming Trailer and information booths, and receive complimentary items bearing the clubs' branding.
The park is at 2200 Crenshaw Blvd. in Torrance. Parking at the site is free.
