Jets Add Veterans for Preseason Home Game Against Avalanche
Scott Arniel says Winnipeg needs game action to shake off five months of rust before Monday’s 7 p.m. CT puck drop at Canada Life Centre.
The Winnipeg Jets will dress more veterans Monday when they host the Colorado Avalanche in a preseason game at Canada Life Centre.
Coach Scott Arniel said Winnipeg's lineup will include more regulars than the group that played Saturday in Edmonton. After five months away from game action, he wants the Jets to rebuild habits that practices cannot fully reproduce.
“Playing games is so much different than practicing,” Arniel told the team's official site. He said Winnipeg has covered systems work through video and individual practice sessions, but game conditions force players to connect breakouts, rushes, forechecks and offensive-zone play in real time.
The Jets are scheduled to hold their morning skate at 10 a.m. CT, with the club expected to provide lineup information afterward.
Monday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. The NHL lists Colorado as the visiting team and Winnipeg as the home team.
