Jankowski scores eight in 14 games as Hurricanes give him a bigger role
The 32-year-old centre has moved up the Carolina lineup since captain Jordan Staal tore a calf muscle.
Mark Jankowski has eight goals in 14 games for the Carolina Hurricanes and is playing on the third line. He scored his eighth on a power play against Winnipeg on Nov. 1 and went scoreless in Carolina's 5–3 win over the New York Islanders on Thursday.
Carolina gave Jankowski a third-line role after captain Jordan Staal tore a calf muscle. Jankowski scored in six straight appearances in October, including an Oct. 11 win in Philadelphia. In Thursday's game he played between Taylor Hall and Seth Jarvis.
Jankowski averaged 14:38 of ice time before Thursday's game, including 2:22 short-handed and 1:05 on the power play, NHL.com reported. Coach Rod Brind'Amour told NHL.com that injuries had opened up more minutes for Jankowski, who had made the most of them.
Calgary drafted Jankowski 21st overall in 2012. Carolina acquired him from Nashville in March 2025 for a fifth-round pick. He scored eight goals in 19 regular-season games for the Hurricanes after that trade.
