The New York Islanders will introduce their Hometown Remix jerseys on the ice when they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, Nov. 5. Puck drop at UBS Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
The Islanders’ version revives the Fisherman design, with wavy sleeve stripes and lighthouse shoulder patches. The club says this will be the first game in the new sweaters.
New York expects to remain without Mathew Barzal, Matias Maccelli and Ryan Pulock. All three took part in Wednesday’s practice wearing non-contact jerseys, according to the Islanders’ official preview, but are not expected to return against Carolina.
Carolina could get Taylor Hall back after a nine-game absence. The Hurricanes said the forward practised Wednesday and could play for the first time since Oct. 13.
Coach Pete DeBoer said his players will need to move the puck effectively against Carolina’s pressure throughout the lineup.
Carolina enters at 12-3-2 with 26 points, while New York is 7-5-2 with 16. Both are seeking a response to shutout or one-goal offensive performances: the Islanders lost 4-0 to Edmonton on Saturday, and the Hurricanes fell 4-1 at Nashville on Tuesday.
The game closes a stretch of three consecutive Islanders matchups against division leaders.
