The New York Islanders visit the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, Oct. 6, with Victor Eklund projected alongside Brayden Schenn and Cal Ritchie after Monday’s practice. The Islanders’ club preview said the lineup remained subject to updates following the morning skate.

Eklund scored his first NHL goal and added an assist in Saturday’s 6-0 win over the New Jersey Devils. Six Islanders scored in the victory. The Rangers have won three straight, most recently beating the Utah Mammoth 4-2 on Sunday.

Monday’s projected defence pairs were Adam Pelech with Matthew Schaefer, Alexander Romanov with Ryan Pulock, and Logan Stanley with Tony DeAngelo. Kyle MacLean, Matt Kessel and Scott Mayfield were the expected scratches.

Anthony Duclair said the Islanders wanted to carry their momentum into an intense rivalry matchup. Coach Pete DeBoer emphasised approaching the game on its own merits.
