Islanders head to Ottawa riding Horvat's hot start
New York opens a two-game Canadian swing at Canadian Tire Centre after beating Vancouver, while the Senators come off a 7-2 loss to St. Louis.
The New York Islanders visit the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, Oct. 15, to begin a two-game trip in Canada. The NHL schedule lists a 7 p.m. ET start at Canadian Tire Centre, with New York travelling to Toronto for Saturday's game.
Bo Horvat leads the Islanders with four goals and seven points through six games, according to the club's preview. New York enters the trip after a 3-2 home win over Vancouver on Tuesday.
Kyle Palmieri scored twice against the Canucks, including the deciding goal at 5:38 of the third period. Matias Maccelli supplied the other Islanders goal and extended his point streak to four games. Matthew Schaefer contributed two assists.
New York moved Maccelli onto a line with Palmieri and Horvat during the third period. Coach Peter DeBoer said the club plans to rotate defencemen to keep them fresh with Alexander Romanov sidelined by an ACL injury. Matt Kessel played against Vancouver in place of Scott Mayfield; Thursday's lineup had yet to be confirmed in the preview.
Ottawa is seeking a response to Tuesday's 7-2 loss to St. Louis, which ended a three-game winning streak. Tim Stützle has five goals and six assists through seven games, according to the Islanders' report.
