Gibson to start as Red Wings seek seventh straight game with a point
Detroit visits Calgary on Saturday with John Gibson back in goal after leaving Thursday’s win in Vancouver.
John Gibson will start for the Detroit Red Wings against the Calgary Flames on Saturday, Oct. 24, coach Todd McLellan said after the morning skate. Gibson missed the third period of Thursday’s win in Vancouver with an upper-body injury.
Detroit enters with points in six consecutive games and a 4-3-3 record. The Red Wings have earned three of a possible four points on their current four-game trip. Faceoff at Scotiabank Saddledome is scheduled for 8 p.m. MT (10 p.m. ET).
McLellan said the rest of Detroit’s lineup would be settled after warmups. Calgary is 3-6-0 and has won the first two games of its homestand. The Flames’ power play is converting at 26.1 per cent, making discipline a focus for Detroit, defenceman Ben Chiarot said.
