Draisaitl's late goal lifts Oilers past Kraken 3-1

Edmonton breaks a third-period tie, with McDavid adding an empty-net goal and Levi making 19 saves.

What's newFrederik Andersen is not expected to make his Oilers debut before December as Devon Levi builds on his win over Seattle.

Leon Draisaitl put Edmonton ahead at 17:33 of the third period on Saturday, Oct. 3, and the Oilers went on to defeat the Seattle Kraken 3-1 at Rogers Place.

Draisaitl finished a sequence that began with Ryan Shea sending the puck along the boards. A deflection off Connor McDavid's knee carried it into the slot, where Draisaitl beat Philipp Grubauer. McDavid added an empty-net goal at 18:55 and finished with two points.

Owen Michaels gave Edmonton the lead at 2:51 of the opening period after receiving a pass from Alex Formenton. The goal was his second in consecutive games, following his first NHL goal against Vancouver on Thursday.

Seattle drew level on a Bobby McMann power-play goal at 9:06 of the second period, with Jordan Eberle supplying the pass. Levi denied Eberle with a glove save at 7:38 of the third; a review confirmed the puck had stayed out.

Levi has a larger opening in Edmonton's goalie rotation while Frederik Andersen recovers from a knee injury. NHL.com reported on Oct. 4 that Andersen is not expected to make his Oilers debut before December. Coach Mike Babcock said Andersen has been helping Levi adjust to his new team. The Oilers have not announced a starter for Wednesday's game in Anaheim.

Devon Levi stopped 19 of 20 shots as Edmonton improved to 2-0-1. He had made 15 saves in Thursday's 9-7 win at Vancouver. Grubauer made 22 saves for Seattle, which fell to 1-1-0 and hosts Calgary on Sunday.
