Devils take three-game win streak into rematch with Islanders
New Jersey opens a road trip Saturday against a team it has lost to six straight times.
The New Jersey Devils will try for a fourth straight win when they visit the New York Islanders at 7 p.m. ET Saturday at UBS Arena. The Islanders took the first meeting 6–0 and have won six in a row against New Jersey.
New Jersey has won seven of its last eight games. On Thursday, the Devils took a 4–1 lead into the third period against St. Louis, gave up three goals in just over three minutes and won 5–4 when Jesper Bratt scored on an overtime breakaway. Jack Hughes leads the Devils with 21 points and has nine in his last five games.
The Islanders have lost two in a row, most recently 5–3 to Carolina on Thursday. They have converted once on 18 power plays over their last five games. Coach Pete DeBoer changed the forward lines and adjusted the power-play units at Friday’s practice.
