Cowan rejoins Matthews as Maple Leafs rearrange forward lines
Dakota Joshua moves alongside Nick Paul and William Nylander ahead of Tuesday’s home game against Utah.
Easton Cowan practised with Auston Matthews and Jack Roslovic on Monday as Toronto prepared to host the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday, Sportsnet reported.
Coach Jim Hiller is bringing that combination back together after Cowan spent recent games elsewhere in the lineup. Hiller said he remained pleased with Cowan’s progress despite some recent mistakes.
Dakota Joshua joined Nick Paul and William Nylander on the second line after making his season debut Saturday against Vancouver. Gavin McKenna worked with Colton Sissons and Vinni Lettieri on the third line.
Cowan said he wanted to keep his play straightforward and improve his puck management. Joshua said his role alongside Nylander would involve supporting the winger’s creative play and recognizing opportunities to attack.
