Chernyshov scores twice, wins it in OT as Sharks beat Kings

Igor Chernyshov scored twice, including the overtime winner, as San Jose beat Los Angeles 5-4 at SAP Center.

San Jose won its second straight overtime game to begin the season, defeating Los Angeles 5-4 at SAP Center on Saturday, Oct. 3, with Igor Chernyshov scoring the winner at 3:18 of the extra period.

Macklin Celebrini supplied the pass for Chernyshov's one-timer from the left circle. The goal beat Anton Forsberg and was Chernyshov's second of the night.

Chernyshov had also scored at 4:08 of the third period to give the Sharks a 4-2 advantage. Los Angeles responded through Erik Haula at 10:21 and Artemi Panarin at 15:00, sending the game to overtime.

Tyler Toffoli finished with a goal and an assist for San Jose, while Celebrini had two assists. Yaroslav Askarov stopped 31 shots; Forsberg made 20 saves for the Kings.

The Sharks improved to 2-0-0 through their first two games. Los Angeles is 0-2-0 after its first two.
