Canadiens’ Florian Xhekaj expected to miss two weeks with lower-body injury
Montreal confirmed the forward’s recovery timeline Friday; Mike Matheson’s status remains unchanged.
Florian Xhekaj is expected to be sidelined for two weeks because of a lower-body injury, the Montreal Canadiens said in their practice update Friday.
The forward has missed Montreal’s past three games. He briefly returned to practice Monday but left after consulting a therapist, according to RDS.
Xhekaj has played twice this season without recording a point. Defenceman Mike Matheson also remained off the ice Friday, with the club reporting no change to his status. Sportsnet reported that Matheson remains day to day with a lower-body injury.
The Canadiens next host the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
