Blackhawks bring improving penalty kill into Panthers matchup
Chicago has not allowed a goal on its last five penalty kills as it prepares to host Florida on Sunday afternoon.
The Chicago Blackhawks will try to turn a strong stretch on the penalty kill into a better overall result when they host the Florida Panthers at United Center on Sunday, Oct. 25. The clubs’ first meeting of the season starts at 2 p.m. CT.
Chicago held Montreal scoreless on all three of its power plays in Friday’s 4-1 home loss. The Blackhawks have now gone five straight opposition power plays without conceding, raising their season penalty-killing rate to 76.7 per cent, according to the club’s preview.
The defeat left Chicago at 3-7-0 overall and 2-3-0 on its seven-game homestand. Coach Jeff Blashill said he still believed in the group but stressed that the players had to produce the improvement he expected, Field Level Media reported.
