Trey Augustine earns first professional win with Griffins
The Grand Rapids rookie made 27 saves at Rockford, including two late stops on Nick Lardis to protect a one-goal lead.

Trey Augustine earned his first professional victory on Saturday, Oct. 17, stopping 27 of 29 shots in the Grand Rapids Griffins’ 4-2 win at Rockford.
The Detroit Red Wings prospect had gone without a win in his first four AHL starts, including two appearances with Grand Rapids last spring. He lost both of those appearances, according to the Griffins’ season review.
Rockford tested Augustine with 13 shots in the third period and cut a 3-0 deficit to 3-2. With the IceHogs pressing late, he denied Nick Lardis with his left pad with 1:46 remaining, then stopped another Lardis attempt with 30 seconds left. Grand Rapids added an empty-net goal 15 seconds from the end.
Dylan James praised his teammate in a postgame interview with Bob Kaser, as reported by Detroit Hockey Now. “He has been great for us,” James said.
Augustine was selected as the game’s third star. The victory left his record for this AHL season at 1-1-1.
