Tkachuk day-to-day, expected ready for Panthers opener
Paul Maurice says the winger avoided anything serious after leaving Tuesday's pre-season game.
Brady Tkachuk is expected to be ready for Florida's season opener next week, coach Paul Maurice told reporters Wednesday, listing the forward as day-to-day after he missed the third period of a pre-season game Tuesday.
The Panthers have not identified the injury.
Tkachuk had a goal and an assist before leaving the ice, and he has five points in two pre-season games with his new club. His Florida debut also included a fight with Carolina's Charles-Alexis Legault.
The former Ottawa captain was traded to the Panthers in the summer, putting him on the same roster as his brother Matthew.
Florida opens the regular season Tuesday in Carolina against the reigning Stanley Cup champions.
