Sharks name Toffoli, Wennberg, Goodrow and Nurse alternate captains
Goodrow and Wennberg will wear the A at home, with Toffoli and Nurse serving on the road under captain Macklin Celebrini.
The San Jose Sharks have their leadership group for 2026-27. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky announced Wednesday that Tyler Toffoli, Alexander Wennberg, Barclay Goodrow and Darnell Nurse will serve as alternate captains, with Macklin Celebrini as team captain.
The letters will be split by venue. Goodrow and Wennberg will be the alternates for home games, while Toffoli and Nurse will wear the A on the road.
Nurse is the newcomer. He enters his first season with San Jose after 24 points (seven goals, 17 assists) in 82 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season. He spent his entire NHL career there before joining the Sharks and was an alternate captain in Edmonton starting with the 2019-20 season.
Toffoli, 34, is entering his third season with the Sharks. He had 19 goals and 49 points last season, and has put up at least 40 points in seven straight seasons. Wennberg, 32, is also going into his third year in San Jose. He set a career high with 18 goals and finished with 55 points, and he was the team’s King Clancy Memorial Trophy nominee for his community work.
