Seth Jones joined three other Florida Panthers defencemen in the club record book Tuesday, Oct. 13, with four assists in a 7-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

Bryan McCabe (Oct. 16, 2010), Brian Campbell (Oct. 17, 2011) and Aaron Ekblad (March 10, 2022) are the other Florida blueliners to reach four assists in a game, according to the Panthers. Jones also matched his career best, a mark he first reached with Chicago in 2024.

Jones said his teammates were finishing the chances he helped create. “I'm making some plays to some great players, and they're putting the puck in the net,” he said.

The 32-year-old has one goal and six assists through seven games this season. The Panthers reported that he was tied for fifth in scoring among NHL defencemen, averaging 25:52 of ice time, and that Florida held a 42-25 advantage in five-on-five scoring chances with him on the ice.

Coach Paul Maurice credited Jones's offseason work alongside Ekblad in Florida. “He's a little faster with everything he does,” Maurice said, adding that Jones was playing with more confidence.

Brady Tkachuk, who had three goals and an assist in the victory, also praised Jones's contribution. “He's played some big minutes for our team,” Tkachuk said.
