Senators Open Camp With 57-Player Roster
Ottawa's 2026-27 camp group includes seven goaltenders, 18 defencemen and 32 forwards, with first practices set for Thursday.
The Ottawa Senators will run their 2026-27 training camp with 57 players, the club announced Wednesday, splitting the group into seven goaltenders, 18 defencemen and 32 forwards.
Camp is being held at Canadian Tire Centre and the Bell Sensplex beginning Wednesday. Players reported for medicals Wednesday morning and are scheduled to hit the ice for formal practices Thursday, with the first player media availability to follow Thursday's sessions. Fan Fest is scheduled for Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Thirteen players on the list are former first-round draft picks, and 27 were Ottawa selections at some point. Fourteen arrived as free-agent signings and 12 by trade. Two players are in on professional tryouts and two more on amateur tryouts. Twenty of the 29 players who took part in the recent rookie camp and tournament earned training camp invites.
Twenty-five of the 57 appeared in at least one game with the Senators in 2025-26, and another six dressed for other NHL clubs last season.
The familiar names are all there: Linus Ullmark and Leevi Merilainen in goal, Jake Sanderson, Thomas Chabot, Artem Zub, Tyler Kleven and Jordan Spence on defence, and Tim Stutzle, Drake Batherson, Shane Pinto, Claude Giroux, Ridly Greig, Dylan Cozens and Fabian Zetterlund up front.
The list also includes players who spent 2025-26 elsewhere in the league, among them goaltender Samuel Ersson with Philadelphia, forward William Eklund with San Jose and forward Andre Burakovsky with Chicago. Forward Philip Tomasino split the season between Pittsburgh and the AHL.
Junior and college players round out the roster, including Gabriel Eliasson of Barrie, Harris Pangretitsch of Sault Ste. Marie and Hoyt Stanley, who played at Cornell before joining Belleville.
