Roadrunners bring Shott's Tots back to Tucson for second season
The Roadrunners will run 24 Learn to Play sessions at Tucson Arena this fall and winter, with free gear for every new skater.
The Tucson Roadrunners are bringing the Shott's Tots Learn to Play program back for a second season through their partnership with the Matt Shott Arizona Hockey Legacy Foundation, USA Hockey and the NHL/NHLPA Learn to Play program.
The first on-ice session is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4 from 11 to 11:45 a.m. MST at Tucson Arena. The program includes 24 sessions across the fall and winter, divided into three eight-session sets and led by certified coaches. Registration is open to children born from 2015 through 2021, and no skating experience is required.
All equipment for new players will be provided with support from the NHL/NHLPA Industry Growth Fund. The Learn to Play curriculum introduces skating, puck handling, passing and shooting.
The Roadrunners, the AHL affiliate of the Utah Mammoth, will provide ice time, player appearances, visits from mascot Dusty and complimentary tickets to select home games for participants and their families.
Roadrunners president Bob Hoffman said last season introduced new players and families to hockey in Tucson and that the club wants to build on that momentum this year. Additional registration details are available through the Matt Shott Arizona Hockey Legacy Foundation.
