Reimer becomes oldest AHL goalie to record shutout since 2008
The 38-year-old Hartford goaltender reached an age milestone in his first AHL win and shutout since January 2011.

James Reimer became the oldest goaltender to record an AHL shutout since 2008 when he blanked the Providence Bruins in his Hartford Wolf Pack debut on Friday, Oct. 23, AHL Communications confirmed.
Reimer was 38 years and 222 days old for the game. The league’s communications account identified Wade Flaherty’s March 13, 2008 shutout for the Rockford IceHogs as the previous one by an older goaltender.
The performance also ended a long gap between AHL wins for Reimer. Hartford’s game report says his previous victory and shutout in the league came on Jan. 22, 2011, with the Toronto Marlies.
Reimer stopped all 35 shots in Hartford’s 2-0 win. Speaking to Blueshirt Banter afterward, he said facing shots early helped him settle into his first game of the season. Coach Jay Leach credited Reimer with keeping Hartford in contention until the team found its footing.
