Providence Bruins Sign Forward Josh Bloom to One-Year AHL Deal
The 23-year-old forward, a 2021 third-round pick of Buffalo, agreed to a two-way deal for the 2026-27 season.

The Providence Bruins signed forward Josh Bloom to a one-year, two-way AHL contract for the 2026-27 season, the club announced on August 25.
Bloom, 23, split last season between the AHL and the ECHL. He recorded 18 goals and 19 assists in 30 ECHL games with the Kalamazoo Wings and the Fort Wayne Komets, and added two goals and one assist in 22 AHL games with the Bakersfield Condors and the Abbotsford Canucks.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward is a native of Oakville, Ontario. Buffalo selected him in the third round, 95th overall, of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He signed an entry-level contract with the Sabres but never played a game in the organization. Buffalo traded him to Vancouver on February 27, 2023, in exchange for defenseman Riley Stillman. The Canucks dealt him to Edmonton on March 13, 2026, receiving forward Jayden Grubbe in return.
Bloom made his professional debut toward the end of the 2023-24 season, with Abbotsford in the AHL and Kalamazoo in the ECHL. In junior, he recorded 30 goals and 61 points in 67 games with the Saginaw Spirit during the 2021-22 OHL season. Saginaw traded him to the North Bay Battalion the following season, and he posted 25 goals and 55 points in 49 games with the Battalion.
The Oilers did not tender Bloom a contract in June, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent. Because the agreement is an AHL contract, Bloom does not occupy a spot on Boston's NHL contract list. The two-way designation pays him different salaries at the AHL and ECHL levels.
The Bruins made several other moves this offseason. Boston traded forward Fabian Lysell, the 21st overall pick in the 2021 draft, to Colorado on June 27 in exchange for forward Ivan Ivan. Forward Georgii Merkulov, who had spent his entire North American professional career in the Bruins organization after signing as a free agent in April 2022, signed a one-year contract with the Avalanche. Boston also traded goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to the New York Rangers on July 1 for forward Kalle Vaisanen and a 2028 fourth-round pick.
