Matthew Poitras returned to practice with the Boston Bruins at Warrior Ice Arena on Thursday, Oct. 1, after more than a week off the ice, Causeway Crowd reported.

Coach Marco Sturm said one practice was not enough to prepare Poitras for the lineup. Sturm did not confirm whether the forward would travel to Winnipeg and Minnesota. WEEI's Bridgette Proulx reported that the coach said Poitras needed more repetitions and noted that Boston's back-to-back would limit practice time.

Sturm said Poitras felt well on Thursday and that the club would increase his workload over the following days before deciding he was ready to return and compete for a place in the lineup. The Bruins' opening-day roster lists Poitras as injured non-roster.
