Penguins Hire Brandon Pridham as Hockey Operations Consultant

The Pittsburgh Penguins hired Brandon Pridham as a hockey operations consultant in July 2026, bringing in one of the NHL's most respected cap specialists to replace Vukie Mpofu, who left for an assistant GM role with Nashville.

Pridham spent 12 seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, starting in 2014 as assistant to the general manager before being promoted to assistant GM in 2018. He parted ways with Toronto in May 2026 after new GM John Chayka took over the front office. Before joining the Leafs, Pridham worked at the NHL league office for 15 years, most recently as senior director of central registry and central scouting.

The move reunites Pridham with Penguins president of hockey operations and GM Kyle Dubas, who worked alongside him in Toronto for eight seasons. According to sportsnet.ca, Dubas praised Pridham's value "across many domains" when promoting him to assistant GM in 2018.

In Pittsburgh, Pridham will handle contracts, cap management, and planning while mentoring junior members of the front office. His expertise proved crucial in Toronto as the Leafs navigated the financial complexities of building around Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and John Tavares.

Pridham is also the father of Jack Pridham, a prospect in the Tampa Bay Lightning organization. The 52-year-old from Stouffville, Ontario, brings nearly three decades of NHL experience to a Penguins team trying to maximize its remaining window with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang.
