The Pittsburgh Penguins take a penalty kill operating at 94.1 per cent into Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center. The Oct. 13 matchup is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, according to the NHL schedule.

Pittsburgh’s game-day preview reports that opponents have scored once in 17 power-play opportunities this season. That leaves the Penguins tied with Minnesota for the league’s second-best penalty-killing rate, behind Toronto.

The defence has also provided offence. Five of Pittsburgh’s six defencemen have recorded at least two points, and their combined 21 points rank second in the NHL behind Colorado’s 23, according to the club.

Samuel Girard has contributed an assist in each of Pittsburgh’s first three road games, with four road assists in total. Declan Carlile leads the Penguins with 15 blocked shots.

Those contributions give Pittsburgh two areas of early-season strength to carry into its meeting with Chicago. The Penguins’ preview also lists SportsNet Pittsburgh as the television broadcaster for the game.
