Alex Ovechkin is still waiting on his first goal of what will be his final NHL season, and he gets a home date to chase it on Sunday. The Washington Capitals (3-1-0) host the Seattle Kraken (3-2-0) at Capital One Arena at 5 p.m. ET.

Ovechkin, 41, has 929 career goals, the most in NHL history. Since turning 40 he has 32 in 86 games, a rate of 0.37 per game that is second in League history (minimum 10 games) to Gordie Howe at 0.38.

The Kraken have been a good matchup for him over the years. Ovechkin has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 10 games against Seattle, 1.30 points per game. He also has 759 career assists, four short of passing Nicklas Backstrom (762) for the most in Capitals history.

Seattle enters the game with a sharp increase in scoring from last season. The Kraken are averaging 4.20 goals through five games, behind only the Colorado Avalanche (5.20) and Edmonton Oilers (5.00). Last season they averaged 2.73 per game, 28th in the NHL. They have scored six goals in three of their first five games, and Jared McCann leads the way with six points (one goal, five assists). Thirteen Kraken players have at least three points.
