Oilers may open season without Dickinson after foot injury setback

Coach Mike Babcock says the forward has aggravated the injury that affected him during Edmonton’s spring playoff run.

Edmonton Oilers forward Jason Dickinson could miss the start of the 2026–27 season after a setback with a foot injury, according to Sportsnet.

Coach Mike Babcock said Friday that Dickinson aggravated the injury he had carried through the spring playoffs. Sportsnet reported that Dickinson left a Sept. 18 practice limping.

Dickinson signed a five-year, $20-million contract with Edmonton in June, the club announced. The deal has an average annual value of $4 million. He recorded 17 points in 64 NHL games with Chicago and Edmonton last season.
