McDavid Fastest Ever to 30 Assists, Passing Gretzky's Mark
The Oilers captain reached the milestone in 15 games, one quicker than Wayne Gretzky did in 1984-85.
Connor McDavid has now collected 30 assists faster than anyone in NHL history.
The Edmonton Oilers captain got number 30 on Sunday night against the New York Rangers, setting up Evan Bouchard's second-period power-play goal. It was his 15th game of the season. Wayne Gretzky held the old mark, reaching 30 assists in his 16th game in 1984-85.
McDavid has recorded at least one assist in every Oilers game so far. His 13th straight game with a helper broke an NHL record on Thursday, and the streak now stands at 15.
The goals are coming too. Through 15 games, McDavid, a three-time Hart winner, has 39 points, nine of them goals.
The Oilers face the Devils on Tuesday, where McDavid can extend the streak again.
