Nick Paul Leaves Leafs Preseason Finale With Undisclosed Injury

Nick Paul left the Toronto Maple Leafs’ preseason finale against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday and did not return after the first intermission. Toronto won 6-1 at Scotiabank Arena.
Paul played 4:42 in the opening period and recorded one shot on goal, according to the NHL’s official box score. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed. Sportsnet reported that coach Jim Hiller did not expect the injury to be serious and said the team would know more Thursday. It remains unclear when Paul was hurt.
Toronto acquired the 31-year-old forward from the Tampa Bay Lightning on July 1 in exchange for goaltender Dennis Hildeby, a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft and a third-round pick in the 2028 draft. Paul had 15 points, including seven goals, in 51 games last season.
