Four NHL players spent a day at the pricing game, and tonight Canada gets to see it. The first NHL-themed edition of "The Price Is Right Tonight" airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on City TV.

Matthew Schaefer of the New York Islanders, the reigning Calder Trophy winner, was joined by Tom Wilson of the Washington Capitals, Brandon Montour of the Seattle Kraken and Jake Walman of the Edmonton Oilers. Toronto Maple Leafs alumnus Wendel Clark also appeared. Howie Mandel hosts.

Each player teamed up with a contestant and offered advice through one of the show's famous games, including Plinko. The contestants made the final price calls.

Wilson admitted his grocery knowledge has slipped. "I'm probably worse now than when I was a kid because I don't know what anything costs but it's really cool to be here," he joked.

Schaefer said during the June taping that he has not done much grocery shopping, and credited Islanders alumnus Matt Martin and Martin's wife Sydney, whom he lives with, for handling it during his rookie season. His dad, Todd, helped him study before the taping in June. "I'm still trying to learn about all this stuff," Schaefer said.

The idea came from Steve Mayer, the NHL's President of Content and Events, who reached out to executive producer Claire Adams several months ago. "They loved it," Mayer said. "Without even any hesitation, we were talking about when we could do the show."

Mayer said many players watch game shows in their downtime after morning skates, and he sees the episode as a way to reach a new audience. "It gives us another avenue to get people to watch our game," he said.
