Expedia and the NHL announced a multi-year partnership on Tuesday, Oct. 13, naming the company the league’s official travel partner in the United States and Canada. The agreement gives Expedia exclusive rights in online travel, vacation rentals and hotels.

The deal includes advertising on the league’s digitally enhanced dasherboards during the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs. Expedia will also participate in All-Star Weekend and the Heritage Classic, Winter Classic and Stadium Series.

Expedia will present the Stanley Cup Playoffs Bracket Challenge and Second Chance Bracket. The NHL said its website would offer a link allowing fans to combine travel planning with attendance at regular-season or playoff games.

Expedia general manager Tracey Weber said the partnership would help fans arrange trips to support their teams. NHL vice-president of business development George Dudas said it would provide new ways to combine travel with league events.

The partners said further details about fan experiences at major NHL events would follow. The announcement did not specify the financial terms or the number of years in the agreement.
